Argentina edge Tunisia in long battle

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 29, 2015 – Argentina defeated Tunisia 3-2 (25-21, 21-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-6) in the last game of Pool B in the FIVB Men’s U23 World Championship at Al Ahli Club in Dubai, on Saturday.

Argentina, who reached 8 points after this game, will play 5-8 classification games. While Tunisia eliminated with 4 points.

Elyes Garfi of Tunisia was the best scorer of the game with 19 points. Nicolas Lazo scored 15 points for Argentina.

Argentina was the better side in the first set. They took an 8-5 lead at the first technical time out and never let Tunisia to make a comeback before winning the set 25-21.

Tunisia fought back in the second set with Karim Messelmeni’s and Elyes Garfi’s points. After Tunisia’s 8-5 lead, Argentina reduced the gap and made it 16-15 at the second technical timeout but Tunisia did not lose their focus and won the set 25-21.

Both teams could not be able to gain an important advantage during the third set. Nicolas Lazo and Pablo Koukartsev helped Argentina to stay in the game and South American team won the set 25-23.

Tunisia performed a better block-defence game in the fourth set and did not let Argentina to get easy points. Wassim Ben Tara was very aggressive on the net and African team forced the game to a tie break by 25-18.

Argentina played a tremendous game in the tiebreak. They had a seven points advantage at 8-1 and extended the gap to double digits at 12-2. In the end Argentina won eventually 15-6.
