Brazil overpower Korea in straight sets

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 30, 2015 – Brazil beat Korea in straight sets (25-20, 25-15, 25-22) in the second 5-8 semifinal game of the FIVB Men’s U23 World Championship at Al Nasr Club in Dubai, on Sunday.

Defending champions Brazil will play against Argentina for the fifth place on Monday, while Korea will face Iran for seventh place. Brazil’s Carlos Eduardo Barreto was the best scorer of the game with 14 points. On the other side, Sungmin Kim and Jiseok Jung scored 12 points each for Korea.

Korea took an early lead at 5-3 but Brazil levelled the game at 6-all. Brazilian team scored four points in a row to make it 10-6 and never looked back. Carlos Eduardo Barreto was unstoppable for Korea and Brazil won the set 25-20.

Brazil did not lose the control in the second set. Defending champions had a comfortable lead at 11-6 and extended the gap to nine points at 19-10. Joao Ferreira was very successful on the net for his team and Brazil won the set 25-15.

Korea was the leading team for the most part of the third set. They were ahead at the both technical timeouts (8-5, 16-15). Despite falling behind 21-19, Brazil made a great comeback and finished the game with a 6-1 run (25-22).
