Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 31, 2015 – Italy won the bronze medal after defeating Cuba 3-1 in the FIVB Men’s U23 World Championship at Al Nasr Club in Dubai, on Monday. Italy coach Michele Totire thinks that they won an important medal for Italian volleyball.
Italy coach Michele Totire:
I would like to congratulate Cuba and their young players. For our side, I am very happy for this medal. Our players worked very hard. I thank to my staff, they supported me really well. This medal is very important for Italian volleyball. We showed that we have the ability to win. We came here to win a medal and we did it. I hope our players can play more in their clubs in the future.
Italy captain Luca Spirito:
We are really happy for winning the bronze medal game. We managed to step up after yesterday’s loss in semifinal. Today we played very well as a team. I want to congratulate all my teammates.
Cuba coach Rodolfo Luis Sanchez:
Congratulation to Italy, they played a really good match. We knew that it was very important for us to use the opportunities that our opponent give us but we could not use these moments. Italy is a country with great volleyball tradition and great players. All my players did their best during the whole tournament.
