Defending champions Brazil finished fifth after Argentina victory
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 31, 2015 – Defending champions Brazil defeated Argentina 3-1 (25-19, 25-18, 30-32, 25-22) in the fifth place game of the FIVB Men’s U23 World Championship at Al Nasr Club in Dubai, on Monday.
With this victory, Brazil secured fifth position in the tournament, on the other side Argentina finished sixth. Brazil’s Douglas Souza was the star of the game with 20 points while Pablo Koukartsev of Argentina scored 19 points for his team.
The game started well balanced but after first technical timeout, which Brazil led 8-6, defending champions started to extend the gap. Douglas Souza scored six points with a high efficiency and Brazilian team won the set 25-19.
Brazil continued the same game in the second set. They led 8-5 in the first technical timeout and never looked back. Argentina could not be able to find solutions to stay in the game and Brazil won the set 25-18.
Argentina raised at the beginning of the third set. Pablo Koukartsev and Joaquin Gallego duo were main powers for Argentinian team until 19-16. Brazil managed to level the game at 19-all. In the end Argentina saved several match points and eventually won the set 32-30.
Brazil’s determination helped them to take the control in the fourth set. Roberley Leonaldo’s team had great serves and on the net they were very aggressive. Brazil had a five points advantage at 11-6 and never looked back before winning the set 25-22.
