Italy rebound to cruise past Egypt 3-1

 

Italy celebrating the victory over Egypt

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 24, 2015 - Italy rebounded back from a set behind to overwhelm Egypt 3-1 (22-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-19) in Pool A opener at Al nasr Hall in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Monday.

Italy dominated against Egypt in areas of blocking as they had 14-4 advantage in kill blocks, while both teams were level at 9-9 aces. 

Italy's opposite spiker Gabriele Nelli led his team and match scorers with 21 points, While Egypt's outside hitter Ahmed Shafik scored 16 points as the best scorer from his side  

Italy started the match with lots of emotions as they used the spike service to disturb the Egyptian reception so they started 4-0 ahead before the Egyptian rebounded to narrow the score to 5-8. Outside hitter Ahmed Shafik played his best and with his spikes Egypt rebounded back to decrease the point deficit gradually till they won the set 25-22.

Italy's performance improved steadily as they improved their blocking against Egyptian hitters . They started to use the efficient spikes of Oreste Cavuto and Gabriele Nelli to win the second set widely 25-14. With Egyptian players falling into a lot of reception and digging mistakes it was easy for the Italians to continue the same rhythm in the third set towards 25-16 lead.

The Italian were very consistent in the third set an didn't allow Egypt to come back and thus they won the third set 25-19 and the match 3-1.
