Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 28, 2015 – Tunisia gained their first victory in the FIVB Men’s U23 World Championship over Mexico by 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 26-24) at Al Ahli Club. Tunisia coach Moncef Belaib stressed that his players showed their determination to win today.
Tunisia coach Moncef Belaiba: We played well starting with the first match in this tournament but we made some mistakes. We improved during these games. In the first three games, we were leading but we lost because of our mistakes in the last parts of these matches. But this time we saw a different style, we saw a winning culture. Our team showed their determination to win. Congratulation to Mexico for their performance. They have very good players. I also congratulate my players for the victory.
Tunisia captain Khaled Ben Slimene: I want to thank my colleagues and congratulations to all of them. We had a great game against Brazil on Wednesday. That game gave us more self-confidence. We used this trust to win this match today. We had some difficult times in the last set but we managed to win.
Mexico coach Juan Alberto Vilches: We are well prepared to this tournament. But we lost four matches because of the physiological side of the game. We did mistakes especially in defence. We are prepared but we need more adjustments. Congratulations to Tunisia. They had a good game. All defeats come with knowledge. We will learn, make analysis and prepare for the future. I have not been long with this team. But we hope to perform better next time.
Mexico captain Jesus Alberto Perales: It was a tough match for us. We tried to do everything for the victory. In the last set our mistakes cost us to win. We could have won the third set and force the game to the fourth set.
