Tunisia down Mexico 3-0 to clinch first win

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 28, 2015 – Tunisia blanked Mexico 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 26-24) in fourth day’s opening game of Pool B of the FIVB Men’s U23 World Championship at Al Ahli Club, on Friday.

Tunisia gained their first victory in their fourth game while Mexico remain winless. Tunisia’s Elyes Garfi was the best scorer with 16 points and Adam Oueslati helped him with 14 points. On the other side, Julian Duarte scored 12 points for Mexico.

Tunisia started the game really fast ant gained a four points advantage at the first technical timeout (8-4). But Mexico fought back and made it 9-all. After that point, Tunisia took over the control again and win the set 25-22.

Despite Mexico’s 4-1 early lead, Tunisia levelled the game at 5-all thanks to Elyes Garfi’s aggressive game on the net. Mexico tried to stay competitive but African team did not let them to take the lead again, before winning the set 25-21.

Mexico’s captain Jesus Alberto Perales’ serves caused problems for Tunisia’s reception in the beginning of the last set. Mexico team could not be able to use three set points at 24-21 and Tunisia scored five points in a row to clinch the set 26-24.
